Review of translator::Translate English Text to Japanese Romaji?
Even Hillary needs a diplomatic envoy as a translator in her vision of the "Global Village". Any Adult over the age of 27 will remember the time that I am about to recall to your mind. Do you remember back in the day, when your parents were (in your eyes anyway!) complete bumbling idiots who must have hatched out of an egg fully grown. Or so you thought because they obviously were either never ever young or they were to you so damned old that they didn't remember that far back? Do you remember those days? Well fast forward to the present day. Wow! You now realize that your parents were not quite so stupid after all, right? If since that time you have become a parent yourself you now see that they were not only not idiots, they were freakin' genius'! Too bad that they weren't speaking a language that you understood back then because they could have helped you in the crisis that you either are currently facing or are about to. Teenage parenting is tougher and less rewarding than at any other time in history. While conversely, being a youth in society today is like no other time period in history. Thus parents are left at a loss to advise their offspring of what to expect or what to watch out for anymore. Many young adults in their late teens 19 or so, and those in their early 20's do not even realize that the fact that they survived their adolescence is in itself a modern miracle. I find it truly unlikely that in another 300- 500 years there will be any racial or cultural separatism remaining in the "Global Village" of the near future. That is of course assuming that our civilization survives it's current growing pains to make it through another century or two. The reasoning that I am following when I make this rather unconventional sounding prediction is that if you look around at teens and preteens today they are all listening to the same kinds of music, they are all dressing in that baggy, oversized, hand-me-down look that hitherto was never popular with young people. They are wearing the same types of hair styles and tee shirts with slogans and Pop Culture Icons emblazoned upon them and most significant is that if you listen to your teenager talking to his friends and contemporaries, regardless of color, ethnicity, or genealogical differences between individual members they are all becoming part of the same tribe. Mind you, most adults understand about two words in every ten that their children are speaking but the hip hop fusion linguistics coming from Hispanic, black, and white adolescents is one single language. It doesn't matter that we, the wellspring from which they flow need a Hop to English dictionary or a younger sibling of theirs to translate the phrases they use into something intelligible, they are all communicating amongst themselves. The barriers of race and geographic origin are crumbling and falling to ruin. There seems to be more interracial couplets now of both hetero and homo sexually oriented homo-sapiens sapiens than uniformly uni-racial couples everywhere that you look. The offspring of these pairings are all a varying shade of mocha or cocoa. I find this phenomenon, while for many it may seem frightening and alien, uplifting, gratifying and cause for cautious optimism at these signs of the times that are coming faster and faster as our little world motors faster and faster along the road of life. Kids these days don't say things like all black people are, or those Mexican kids they all, they actually interact and interface with one another on a first name basis. Never mind the fact that more people have some kind of crazy sounding handle or are carrying around stacks of business cards emblazoned with incomprehensible ancient symbol like that they hand to each other as means of introducing themselves the artist who as far as we are concerned is still known as Prince. The day is coming when people will not speak of groups of people as them, they, the other group. They refer to one another with mutual respect and budding curiosity and interest rather than suspicion and racial stereotypes. The world, no matter what section of it you live in,is becoming one, one race, one people, and they are opening their hearts and minds to a multi-culturally influenced "Flow" and are celebrating the similarities and friendships that they are developing amongst one another. So the next time you and your spouse are talking to your child and you look at each other afterward and say, "Did you understand what he/she just said?" Don't panic, relax, smile, and know that your children are equipped for the brave new and exiting world of tomorrow, right here and now. Ain't it just "groovy dude"? We may not understand a single word that they say but they all understand each other and that is great! |
