Sure,               most               of               the               websites               I               visit               every               day               are               in               English,               but               sometimes               I'm               amazed               that               more               websites               I               want               to               visit               aren't               in               a               different               language.

I               suppose               it               helps               that               English               has               sort               of               become               the               de               facto               language               for               the               Web,               but               in               spite               of               that,               I               still               do               run               across               websites               I               wish               I               could               read,               but               are               written               in               another               language.

For               times               such               as               those,               numerous               online               utilities               exist,               so               that               all               I               need               to               do               is               plug               in               the               address               of               the               website,               tell               the               utility               my               native               language               and               that               of               the               web               page,               and               automated               software               spits               out               a               translated               version               of               the               site.

Sure,               the               translation               isn't               always               perfect,               and               sometimes               it's               downright               funny,               but               most               of               the               time               it's               good               enough.
There               are,               of               course,               translation               services               for               needs               not               related               to               websites,               but               those               almost               always               involve               going               to               a               web               browser,               entering               in               the               address               of               the               translation               service,               then               pasting               in               the               text               you               want               translated               and               going               through               the               steps               of               (again),               entering               in               the               original               and               desired               languages.

I've               used               these,               and               they               seem               to               be               just               as               good               as               the               website               translation               services,               but               (as               I               often               feel               when               I               find               myself               going               to               a               web               browser               to               use               a               web               application),               I               sometimes               wish               I               could               accomplish               the               same,               right               from               my               desktop.
A               program               for               Mac               exists,               called               Easy               Translator,               that               attempts               to               solve               just               that               problem               for               me.

It's               shareware               (costing               around               forty               dollars               or               so),               but               it               works               well,               is               incredibly               easy               to               use,               and               gives               just               as               good               translations               as               you'd               expect.

This               is               nothing               you'd               want               to               use               if               needing               professional               results,               but               if               you               need               a               decent               translation               just               to               get               the               rough               meaning,               then               Easy               Translator               may               be               for               you.
To               use               Easy               Translator,               simply               start               it               up.

You'll               see               two               large               text               entry               fields.

One               (the               top               one)               is               for               you               to               paste               or               type               the               text               you               want               translated.

The               bottom               field               is               where               the               translated               text               will               appear.

Below               the               bottom               field               is               a               popup               menu.

English               is               most               represented               in               the               list,               as               you               might               expect.

Easy               Translator               is               able               to               translate               English               into               Chinese               (both               Simplified               and               Traditional),               Dutch,               French,               German,               Greek,               Italian,               Japanese,               Korean,               Portuguese,               Russian,               and               Spanish,               and               from               all               those               languages               back               to               English.

If               you               speak               other               languages               (with               the               exception               of               French),               you'll               likely               only               be               able               to               translate               your               language               into               English,               and               maybe               to               another               language.
